ADVERTISEMENT FOR 2004 ADMISSIONS

Mongolian Foundation for Open Society is now accepting applications for the AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN BULGARIA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE YEAR OF 2004-2008.

AUBG is an accredited American, liberal arts institution established in 1991. It is 4-year undergraduate university which awards Bachelor's degree to its graduates.

Each year approximately 20 scholarships are awarded by Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation) for 4 years study on merit-based basis to students from Albania, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia. 10 Mongolian students were awarded the Soros scholarship to study at this university since 1997.

You must meet the following eligibility requirements to qualify for this scholarship:
1. Be in 10th grade of secondary school at the time of application or and hold a secondary school degree by August of the following year;
2. Not enrolled currently in institutions of higher education;
3. Be a citizen of Mongolia;
4. Have achieved a minimum 4.0 secondary school grade point average based on a 5.0 system.
5. Be proficient in English and able to achieve minimum 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Your application should consist of the following documents (all should be in English):
· Complete application with 2 copies;
· The certified, official records for the last four years of secondary school study. All records must list the subjects taken, grades earned or examination results in each subject, and all certificates or diplomas;
· If the transcripts are in a language other than English, the official, certified English translation must be accompanied;
· Personal essay describing yourself and how you think an AUBG education will help you to become a leader in your profession, country or community;
· Three references from your school, teacher (in English);

Selection process:
· Your application will be evaluated on the completeness of the application, supporting documents, personal essay, and its clarity, completeness of response, sentence structure, paragraphing, spelling grammar, and style, and the reference letter. After initial scanning of the applications, MFOS will invite the pre-selected students to Institutional TOEFL, and SAT tests in February.
· AUBG admissions office will make the final decision of entrance based on the test scores. Minimum TOEFL score required for AUBG is 550.
