PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM
Goal: To
improve the practice of public health in Mongolia by
capacity building of public health professionals and
ensuring equity in health by addressing neglected health
issues of marginalized populations.
Program components:
The MFOS Public Health Program consists of the following
network sub-programs:

Training / Salzburg Seminars and Internships, OSI Public
Health Conferences/
Achievements:
1. Policy level: supported the development and discussion
process of National policy on Public health; National
program on control of Cardiovascular Diseases.
2. Professional Capacity building: Trained more than
100 medical doctors through Salzburg Seminars and Internship
program, over 350 policy and decision makers, and public
health professionals through Schweitzer regional and
local conferences.
3. Equity in health: Introduced Palliative Care services
in Mongolia through training of national and local trainers,
development of training materials, supported the establishment
of NGO; Improvement of health services for TB patients
at prisons; piloting the model projects on development
of Community based health services for mentally disabled
people.
4. Improvement of training content: supported the development
of health education training curriculum for secondary
school children, improvement of undergraduate PH training
curriculum of Medical University.
