The goal of the Open Society Forum
is to provide the physical and virtual space for high-quality
policy research and analysis, broad public access to
information resources about policies, laws, and regulations,
and a venue for public engagement in the policy formulation
and implementation monitoring processes. The work of
Open Society Forum is organized under three broad thematic
areas: Governance, Social, and Economic. As a general
approach, issues are addressed, depending on their
nature and complexity, under one or more of the following
mechanisms:
For

Public Fora & Conferences
- Local, sub-national, and national gatherings
(conferences/workshops/seminars) will be organized
around open society themes in order to encourage broad
public involvement in the discussions and the outcomes.
- On an annual basis, an international
event will be organized to feature an important global,
regional or national issue. Participants will
include an array of recognized national and international
experts in a given field.; Papers will be published
and disseminated widely.
Policy Fellows & Research

A public policy fellows program will
be established for Mongolian and foreign analysts and
experts in selected fields to build a cadre of professionals
likely to support and promote open society values in
the future. Policy fellows will be expected to
spend from three to six months pursuing their fields
of research, all of which will be directly related to
the priorities of the Open Society Forum.
- Other research initiatives will be
undertaken/commissioned/supported to fill gaps in
knowledge or summarize existing research.
Information Resource Center &
Portal
- An information clearinghouse
and library will be established as an integral part
of the Open Society Forum to facilitate the work of
policy fellows, researchers, policy-makers, academics,
civil society organizations, and the general public.
- A convenient one-stop
Open Society Forum portal gateway will be established
in Mongolian and English languages to facilitate access
to latest Open Society Forum news, information, policy
research, and a host of additional online information.
The portal will also include online discussion fora,
e.g., message boards and discussion rooms, etc.
Publishing & Information Dissemination
- A series of policy
publications will be developed. These will include
regular and occasional papers, executive summaries
of research papers produced by resident fellows, as
well as a quarterly policy journal.
- Branded television
and radio programs will be launched to foster open
and informed discussion of issues, and to broaden
public awareness.
Pilot Projects & Demonstrations
- Experiments, pilot projects, and demonstrations
that will support further understanding, development
or implementation of policy recommendations that emerge
from the Open Society Forum. These activities
will likely be time-bound, narrowly-focused efforts
carried out by either the Foundation itself or third
parties.
